What Does Mold Smell Like?
Learn how to sense a moldy smell and what to do about it.
So, you’ve been experiencing that musty smell recently? Have you started sneezing and coughing more often as well?
This may be a sign that you have mold in your home. But it doesn’t have to be just that.
Generally, mold smell is described as a strong musty smell. People also report cold-like symptoms when around the place that smells moldy.
This smell is usually stronger than other dirty smells like garbage and stinky clothes.
Can a musty smell in your home be a sign of anything else?
Yes, of course. This smell can originate from everyday-stuff like clothes getting dirty. However, if the bad smell persists, you might have a mold problem.
Where does mold mostly grow?
Most people will notice mold in their kitchens and bathrooms. Watch out for bad smells around your shower and dishwasher.
Can I just ventilate the smell?
This won’t work if you already have mold in your home. It may help the room smell nicer but it won’t remove the mold itself which is the main source of the problem.
